Description

Kodak Duaflex III Camera — 1950s Box Style, f/8 72mm Lens, Vintage Charm

This is a Kodak Duaflex III camera, produced between 1954 and 1957 by Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY. Designed for casual photographers of the postwar era, the Duaflex III blends simplicity and style in a rugged box-style format. This model features a fixed-focus Kodar f/8 72mm lens and a brilliant waist-level viewfinder—making it one of the most accessible medium-format cameras of its time.

The body is constructed of molded Bakelite with aluminum trim, accented by its classic red Kodak medallion and cream faceplate. The lens bezel clearly presents three aperture options—marked for shooting in “Hazy Sun,” “Bright Sun,” and “Bright Sun on Snow or Sand”—making it intuitive even for beginners. It uses 620 roll film and produces crisp 6x6 cm square images, compatible with both black & white and color emulsions of the time.

With its iconic mid-century styling and simple mechanical construction, the Duaflex III is prized today not just by collectors, but also by analog photography enthusiasts and lovers of retro Americana. The included carrying strap adds utility and a period-authentic touch.

Condition

In good vintage condition. The body shows expected wear including edge scuffs and oxidation on the winding knob. Viewfinder is clear and lens glass shows minor dust. Untested but appears complete. Strap is intact and secure.
