Description

Kodak Senior Six-16 Folding Camera — Boxed w/ Manuals, Art Deco Era

Offered here is a Kodak Senior Six-16 folding camera, complete with its original box and period instruction booklets, including How to Make Snapshots at Night and a dedicated Kodak Senior Six-20/16 manual. Manufactured by Eastman Kodak in the 1930s to early 1940s, the Senior Six-16 was a high-end consumer camera of its time, noted for its sleek folding construction and precision optics.

This example features a Kodak Anastigmat f/4.5 lens and No. 2 Kodamatic shutter with speeds from 1/200 second down to bulb and time settings. Designed for 616 roll film, it captures generously sized 2½ x 4¼ inch negatives. The classic black bellows, striated chrome struts, and embossed leatherette casing exhibit the refined industrial design language of the late Art Deco period—combining form and function in a streamlined, elegant build.

What sets this piece apart is the completeness of its presentation: the original vertically striped Kodak box features bold graphic elements typical of the 1930s, while the manuals offer a time-capsule glimpse into photographic instruction of the era. Whether you’re a vintage photography collector, a design enthusiast, or simply looking for a display-worthy conversation piece, this Senior Six-16 offers both historical and visual impact.

Condition

Camera is in very good vintage condition with minor surface wear. Bellows appear light-tight and free of tears. Lens and shutter show no visible damage, there is a crack in the viewfinder glass. Box has notable edge and corner wear but remains intact. Both original pamphlets show age-toning but are legible and complete. Camera is untested.
