Description

Russell Mott “Three Crosses” Tray – Las Cruces, NM Studio Pottery

Handmade ceramic tray by noted Las Cruces, New Mexico potters Russell Mott and Padma Valdevit, depicting the powerful Christian symbol of the Three Crosses. A fitting homage to the city of Las Cruces (Spanish for “The Crosses”), the tray presents a tan cross trio against a deep mottled green glaze, framed by hand-carved earthen-toned borders.

Rectangular in form and slab-constructed, the piece bears three impressed marks on the lower right: “PV”, a pictorial emblem, and “RM”—representing the artist duo’s signature. Their collaborative works emerge from MVS Studios, known for spiritually resonant and finely crafted studio ceramics rooted in Southwestern tradition.

A distinctive and meaningful art piece, perfect for display, meditation spaces, or collectors of religious or regional American pottery.

Condition

Excellent condition with no damage or repairs. Surface and glaze are intact with intentional studio variations. Ready for display.
