Description

A still photograph does no justice to this awesome Levitating Marble wind spinner, which consists of a powder-coated steel frame featuring a hand-blown glass marble created by glass artist Jeff Price. This hypnotic and mesmerizing wind spinner looks amazing rotating in the breeze! Jeff was inspired by an optical illusion used by magician Harry Houdini to distract from his magic. For many years, Jeff has been blowing his beautiful glass marbles and creating these wonderful Levitating Marbles to wow folks in their backyards, on their patios or front porches, at the beach or lake, or wherever folks want to be mesmerized. Check out the closeup photo of Jeff's hand-blown glass marble to appreciate more of its striking beauty. Unfortunately, Jeff retired from glass blowing a few years ago, and our Cloudcroft, NM gift shop/gallery Off the Beaten Path has all of Jeff's remaining art pieces, which are few. We have no more of Jeff's large Levitating Marbles like this one pictured, which sold for $148 each. This particular Levitating Marble is an old design of Jeff’s, so it’s a bit different from later models that we carried for more than a dozen years. Although Jeff’s hand-blown marble is in wonderful condition, the silver frame is discolored. However, the discoloration doesn’t detract that much from the overall appearance of the Levitating Marble.

About the Artist:
Jeff Price, Yorba Linda, CA

A second-generation glass blower, Jeff's extensive experiments with glass, both its forming and coloring techniques, led to a style of glass that features semi-traditional shapes with clever optical effects and bold colors. Pieces sometimes looked like abstract paintings, sometimes like rustic remnants of a bygone era, and often looked like modern interpretations of classical art. Jeff’s Levitating Marbles were his interpretation of the famous “levitating ball” illusion used by Harry Houdini to distract his audience while he performed some of his acts.

Condition:
Good - although the marble is in great condition, the silver frame is discolored, so is not in that good of shape. Check out the closeup photos to see some of the discoloration.
