"Up Through Maples", Original Pastel Work in Archival Packaging, View Watchlist >
Framed, by Lyn Canham
Our local friend and avid 1CaT supporter Lyn Canham was very kind to donate one of her beautiful plein-air landscape paintings, and we are most grateful. “Up Through Maples” is a lovely painting of a particular spot on the Osha Trail, a wonderful and popular hiking trail in our beloved Sacramento Mountains, near our quaint village. Lyn captured the intensity of the golden aspen trees on the Osha Trail in the fall. See below for a description of Lyn’s approach to painting landscapes. The value of Lyn’s lovely painting “Up Through Maples” is $100.
About the Artist:
Lyn Canham, Cloudcroft, NM
Lyn Canham is a local artist who has studied art since her childhood in Saint Louis, MO. She went on to study and receive her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in cognitive psychology at the University of New Mexico. After winding down her career as a cognitive psychologist, Lyn reintroduced herself to the arts through drawing and pastel classes. Her paintings flow from her lifelong love of nature. Lyn often paints landscapes (or flowers or architecture) on location – en plein air. She has been working almost exclusively with dry pastels since she first tried painting several years ago. She has held so closely to this medium due to its natural, earthy richness and pigment-dripping intensity, particularly well-suited for plein-air landscape painting.
