Pair of Antique Terracotta Olive Jars — Spanish, Glazed Necks, 19th c.
A beautifully aged pair of 19th-century Spanish olive jars, hand-thrown in terracotta and once used for storing oil or preserved goods. Each vessel features unique earth-toned finishes with partial interior glazing and wide loop handles that reflect their utilitarian past. The jar on the left is distinguished by its deep green glazed neck; the right by its softer ochre-yellow glazed rim.
Worn surfaces, mineral deposits, and areas of glaze loss reveal decades of exposure and use, giving these jars their rich, organic texture and patina. Their generous forms and rustic silhouettes make them striking as standalone pieces or as vessels for dried botanicals or sculptural arrangements.
Perfect for interiors seeking Mediterranean warmth or farmhouse authenticity, these jars offer both decorative character and historical substance.
Condition
In good antique condition with surface wear, glaze loss, and minor rim chipping consistent with age and outdoor storage. One base shows visible cracking but remains stable. Patinated surfaces and calcified buildup enhance their rustic charm.
