Hand-Built Ceramic Platter with Decorative Texturing by Amy Ewing View Watchlist >
This cool platter was created by our friend Amy Ewing. Fairly new ceramic artist Amy hasn't been creating that long, but she was very kind and donated two pieces of her art to help 1CaT, and we are grateful. This platter started as a slab, had the pattern rolled in, then was shaped, fired and glazed. The beautiful blue glaze color is not truly represented in the photo -- the lovely blue is much nicer in person. The bold texturing that Amy chose compliments the platter's shape nicely. Check out the closeup photos to see some details of Amy's platter. The estimated value of Amy's fun platter is $35.
About the Artist:
Amy Ewing, Las Cruces, NM
Amy Ewing is a Las Cruces teacher and hobby potter. She has found she prefers hand building to throwing on the wheel and enjoys all that can be created from a slab of clay. Amy was very kind and made a special trip to Cloudcroft just to deliver her art and a couple other items to us, and we are exceedingly grateful!
