American Aesthetic Mixed Metals Cane Stand — Floral Embossing & Bosses
A distinctive American Aesthetic Movement mixed metals cane or umbrella stand, dating to the early 20th century. This sculptural piece features a flared lip and cylindrical form, richly adorned with detailed floral embossing. Strapwork bands wrap the body in both horizontal and spiral arrangements, each punctuated by raised circular bosses — domed decorative elements that enhance its dimensional texture and visual rhythm. The copper and brass construction shows attractive patination, with warm tones and natural verdigris that highlight the hand-worked surfaces.
Reflecting the eclectic and nature-inspired aesthetics of the movement, this piece is both utilitarian and artistic. Comparable to works by Bradley & Hubbard and other American makers of the era, it would make a fine addition to any collection of decorative arts, or a standout entryway accent.
Condition
In good condition with wear consistent with age. Includes some very minor dents (on rim), scattered surface wear, and areas of oxidation throughout. The authentic patina is well-developed and adds character. No visible structural damage or repairs. We'll leave the polishing to you.
