Vintage Universal No. 1 Meat Grinder & A&J Egg Beater – Vintage Kitchen Tools
This vintage kitchenware set features two iconic American-made tools from the early 20th century. The Universal No. 1 meat grinder, produced by Landers, Frary & Clark of New Britain, Connecticut, is a cast iron, hand-cranked device designed for efficient grinding of meats and vegetables. Introduced in 1897, it became a staple in households for its durability and functionality. This particular model includes three interchangeable blades and is marked with "4" and "D" on the body, indicating specific casting details.
Accompanying the grinder is an A&J egg beater, patented on October 9, 1923, by Charles E. Kail of Binghamton, New York. Manufactured by the A&J Manufacturing Company, this hand-cranked mixer is designed to fit over a jar or bowl, making it ideal for quick mixing tasks. The beater is marked with "PAT. APL'D FOR" and "MADE IN U.S.A." along with the A&J diamond logo, reflecting its authentic vintage origin.
Condition:
Both items are in good vintage condition, exhibiting age-appropriate wear. The metal surfaces show minor oxidation consistent with their age, and the wooden handles remain intact and functional. All moving parts operate smoothly.
