Description

PET Milk Co. & Unmarked Milk Cans – Greeneville, TN, Vintage Red Pair

This is a striking vintage pair of red-painted metal milk cans, including one embossed "PET MILK CO / 1008 / GREENEVILLE, TENN"—a rare survivor from the historic Pet Milk Company plant in Greeneville, Tennessee. Operating since 1928, this facility was part of a major regional dairy network distributing evaporated milk across the U.S. during the mid-20th century.

The companion can is unmarked but closely resembles the embossed one in construction, likely from the same era. Both feature traditional side handles and flared tops, characteristic of mid-century American dairy transport equipment. Boldly repainted in bright red, these cans offer rich vintage charm and strong visual appeal for decorative or nostalgic display.

Each can has an approximate 10-gallon capacity, consistent with typical milk transport standards of the time.

Dimensions & Weight:

  • PET Milk Co. Can: 23" height x 13" diameter; 20 lbs

  • Unmarked Can: 23.5" height x 13.5" diameter; 15 lbs

Ideal for farmhouse decor, garden displays, or collectors of agricultural Americana, this pair embodies utility and character from a bygone era.

Condition

In good vintage condition, with wear consistent with age. Both cans have been recently repainted and show minor scuffs and small chips in the finish. The PET Milk Co. can does not sit completely flat. No significant dents or structural damage. Offered as shown.
