Description

Mo Malone was very kind in donating two pieces of her leather art to help 1CaT, and we are very grateful. She has been an artist for a number of years, but really only got her start with art after retiring from teaching in 2000. Mo has created using several different mediums, but currently Mo hand-cuts and works pieces of leather, from tiny to small, to create her “Window” and “Door” pieces. This “Window” is entitled “My Forever Home is Purrfect”, and features a black kitty looking in a window at a basket of pretty flowers. Like many artists, Mo does not charge enough for her artwork, and told us the value of this “Window” is only $25. (We think it is worth much more than that!)

About the Artist:

Mo Malone, El Paso, TX & Cloudcroft, NM

Like many folks, Mo Malone lives both in El Paso, TX and Cloudcroft. She is a folk artist, and finds inspiration in the shapes and colors all around her. “My imagination sores when I explore and look for new ideas in the history and landscape of the Southwest and beyond.“ In 2000, Mo retired after 33 years of teaching second and fifth grades in Maryland and El Paso, TX. Mo is a member of the Cloudcroft Art Society, and although most of the other artists are two-dimensional artists rather than working in three dimensions as does Mo, she has made several new friends through that organization. Currently in her early 80s, Mo continues to create art as therapy and just because she loves working and creating with her hands. She plans on creating art as long as she is physically able.
