Czech Mercury Glass Egg Decanter Set – Marked Czechoslovakia, Handblown, 6 Cups
A rare and visually captivating vintage Czech mercury glass decanter set, crafted in the form of an egg and marked “Czechoslovakia” on the metal insert tray. Likely dating to the 1920s–1930s, this piece exemplifies the elegant craftsmanship of interwar Bohemian glassmakers and remains highly collectible today.
The golden egg-shaped case opens to reveal a fitted metal interior holding a central glass decanter and six petite handblown cordial cups. Each element nestles securely in its designated slot. The exterior features a rich, reflective mercury glass finish in a golden hue, lending a glamorous Art Deco-era aesthetic. The decanter is topped with a ground glass stopper, and each small cup exhibits subtle variations in size and thickness consistent with hand production.
This functional barware set doubles as a sculptural display object—a true conversation starter that blends vintage charm with European craftsmanship. Ideal for collectors of Bohemian glass, barware, or decorative mid-century accessories.
Condition
In good vintage condition. The decanter has a 0.25" chip on the rim, and several of the cups show minor flea bites on their edges. Some oxidation is present on the metal tray, and the mercury glass exterior shows surface wear consistent with age. Contents of the decanter are unknown. Please refer to detailed photos for full condition clarity.
