Navajo ‘Rainmaker’ Kachina Doll — Hand-Carved & Painted, Signed
This traditional Navajo ‘Rainmaker’ Kachina doll is a hand-carved and vibrantly painted figure, representing the spirit associated with bringing rain and agricultural blessings to the land. Signed “Rainmaker” on the underside, the piece is carved from a single block of wood and finished in bright ceremonial hues of turquoise, yellow, black, and white.
A fine example of 20th-century Navajo artistry, the figure features stylized details including crossed arms, bold facial markings, and layered geometric garments. Although Navajo Kachina dolls differ from Hopi ceremonial types, they are valued as expressions of cultural exchange and artistic interpretation. This piece may have originally included feathers, which are now absent, but its visual power and craftsmanship remain strong.
Ideal for collectors of Native American art or Southwestern folk pieces, this Rainmaker brings cultural depth and visual intrigue to any display.
