"Eagle" Kachina by HL – Hand Carved Wood, Feathers, Yarn, 5"
This Eagle Kachina doll is a hand-crafted tribute to a powerful spiritual figure in Hopi tradition. Signed “Eagle by HL” on the base, this piece is carved from wood and embellished with traditional materials including feathers, yarn, fur, and leather.
Symbolizing strength, wisdom, and the spiritual connection between Earth and sky, the Eagle (Kwahu) is one of the most honored kachinas in Pueblo ceremonies. This doll reflects that symbolism in vivid detail: a turquoise-painted mask with black and red markings, a feathered headdress, and wide outstretched wings—all suggestive of ceremonial dance poses meant to invoke blessings and protection.
Its painted skirt bears geometric motifs in black and red, accented by a twisted yarn sash in green and red. Though petite in scale, it radiates character and craftsmanship—ideal for collectors of Native American art, Southwestern decor, or those drawn to spiritual folk traditions.
