Description

R.C. Gorman “Navajo with Tortilla”

A signed print by renowned Navajo artist R.C. Gorman (1931–2005), titled "Navajo with Tortilla." Gorman, often called the “Picasso of American Indian artists,” is celebrated for his stylized portrayals of Indigenous women that blend fluid linework with serene, dignified presence. This work features a woman in a red blouse and flowing lavender skirt, seated in quiet contemplation, exemplifying his refined approach to modern Native American visual storytelling.

The print is signed in pencil at the lower right and presented framed and double matted behind glass. The verso includes an original printed artist biography label from Diversified Art, Inc., Tucson, outlining Gorman’s heritage, artistic influences in Mexico, and inclusion in major public and private collections, including the Heard Museum and the Smithsonian.

Condition: the print is clean and undamaged beneath the glass. The frame shows minor wear consistent with age and handling.

Dimensions: Framed: 11 x 9 inches; Visible image: 6.5 x 4.5 inches.
