Description

Meet the Beatles! Stereo LP – Capitol ST-2047, 1964 First Pressing, Rainbow Label

Offered here is an original 1964 stereo first pressing of Meet the Beatles! on Capitol Records (Catalog No. ST-2047), a landmark album that launched Beatlemania across America. This early U.S. issue features the iconic Capitol rainbow label (no "subsidiary" rim text) and was pressed at the Scranton, PA plant, as indicated by the IAM triangle stamp in the runout.

This pressing includes all 12 original tracks, with hit singles like “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “All My Loving,” and “I Saw Her Standing There.” The cover showcases Robert Freeman’s legendary shadowed portrait of the band, while the back sleeve includes original liner notes and a track list divided by side.

Key identifiers of a first pressing include:

  • Rainbow Capitol label without "subsidiary" rim text
  • Publishing split between BMI and ASCAP
  • ST-2047 catalog number (stereo edition)
  • "MFD. BY CAPITOL RECORDS, INC." rim print
  • No producer credit for George Martin on the back cover
  • “IAM” stamp in dead wax (Scranton pressing)

This edition remains highly desirable to collectors due to its historical significance and authentic 1964 production details.
