Description

3-Footed Cast Iron Dutch Oven w/ Lid — Marked RB 2778, BSR Franklin Bean Pot

Offered here is a vintage cast iron three-foot Dutch oven with matching lid, marked “RB 2778.” This piece is attributed to Birmingham Stove & Range Co. (BSR) and is widely known as the "Franklin Bean Pot." Produced mid-20th century, it features classic frontier-style functionality with three integral legs for use over coals or an open flame, plus sturdy side lugs for bail handle suspension (bail missing). The domed lid has a loop-style finial and fits snugly for heat retention.

Originally distributed as a promotional item with Atlanta Stove Works appliances, the Franklin Bean Pot embodies practical design and nostalgic appeal. Whether for cooking, display, or collection, it’s a durable and historically rooted piece of Southern cast iron tradition.

Condition:
In good vintage condition with wear and patina consistent with use. Surface shows signs of seasoning loss and light oxidation. No cracks or chips; lid fits properly. Wire bail is absent. Please review photos for details.

Dimensions:
Overall: 8" height x 10" width (including handles)
Interior diameter: 8"
