20" Tonalá Folk Art Charger & Hand-Painted Songbird Pottery Wall Plates
This set comprises three hand-painted Mexican pottery wall plates, each showcasing traditional folk art motifs. These plates exhibit characteristics reminiscent of Tonalá pottery—such as hand-painted bird motifs and a traditional color scheme. The large plate, measuring 19.5 inches in diameter, features a heron amid stylized flora, while the two smaller plates, each 6.5 inches in diameter, depict songbirds perched among foliage. Rendered in earthy tones of slate blue, rust red, and ivory, these plates reflect the classic color palette associated with Mexican ceramics. The reverse of each plate bears the mark "Mexico," indicating their origin.
Condition:
The large charger is in excellent, like-new condition with no visible damage. The two smaller plates are in good condition, exhibiting some wear and scuffing on the rims consistent with age and use. All pieces maintain vibrant colors and intact glaze.
Dimensions:
- Large plate: 19.5" diameter x 1.5" depth
- Small plates (each): 6.5" diameter x 0.75" depth
