Hawkeye Woven Picnic Hamper – Green & Wood, 1950s
Vintage "America’s Finest Hamper" by Hawkeye, produced by Burlington Basket Co., likely circa 1950s. This classic picnic basket features green and natural-tone woven wicker sides with a distinctive geometric pattern. The lid is crafted from Masonite, while the dual swing handles and trim are wood, secured with original metal hardware. A partial maker's label is still affixed to the underside of the lid. The interior is lined with cardboard-style cardstock, giving it a clean structure for utility or display. A nostalgic and functional piece of mid-century Americana.
Condition:
In good overall condition with wear consistent with age and use. Notable areas of finish loss, surface scratches, and interior discoloration from use. Some damage is present on the top wood trim near the lid hinges, and there are a few broken green wicker strands on the body. Interior lining shows signs of age with creasing and stains.
