Description

Vickie Morrow Assemblage “The Doorkeeper” – Mixed Media Wall Art

“The Doorkeeper” is a compelling original assemblage by Vickie Morrow, a New Mexico-based artist known for her evocative narrative box art and tile mosaics. This piece is part of her Door to Beyond series and exemplifies her signature use of found objects and vintage materials. Centered around a richly patinated antique brass doorknob and ornate backplate, the work is framed with carved wood trim, vintage lace, and decorative brass and button embellishments.

Morrow’s work blends storytelling with tactile nostalgia, repurposing everyday objects into layered visual metaphors. The interior is bordered with hand-painted brick-style detailing and mounted in a wooden shadow box. The piece is titled “The Doorkeeper” on the reverse, signed on the side, and marked as number 44 in the artist’s series.

Vickie Morrow’s assemblage and mosaic work has been featured in galleries throughout Arizona and New Mexico, with exhibitions in Scottsdale, Sedona, and Mesilla, and has appeared in Mosaic Art Today and on HGTV’s Colorful Kitchens.
