Antique Victorian Oak Washstand with Marble Top and Brass Hardware
This antique oak washstand dates to the late Victorian era, circa 1890–1910, and features a classic ½-inch thick white marble top paired with solid oak construction. The design includes one upper drawer and a lower cabinet door, both fitted with original brass hardware. Turned oak columns, carved feet, and a swag motif on the cabinet front add period charm and craftsmanship.
Historically, the lower cabinet was used to discreetly store a chamber pot or slop jar, making this piece a functional necessity before the widespread adoption of indoor plumbing. Today, it serves beautifully as a unique accent table, nightstand, or bathroom storage piece. The marble top offers durable surface space, and the compact footprint makes it ideal for smaller rooms or vintage-themed interiors.
Condition:
In good condition overall, with some finish wear and light surface loss. A small 1/16-inch chip is present on one corner of the marble, though it is barely noticeable. The drawer has a split near the front, which does not affect its function. Structurally sound and sturdy.
