Antique Dutch Silver Pierced Bonbon Spoon – Zaanlandsche Zilversmederij (1916-1920)
This antique Dutch silver bonbon spoon, crafted by Zaanlandsche Zilversmederij (E. Schoorl) of Amsterdam between 1916 and 1920, is a beautiful example of early 20th-century Dutch silversmithing.
The ornate handle is topped with an openwork Amsterdam coat of arms, featuring two lions flanking a crowned shield. The pierced bowl showcases intricate scrollwork, lattice details, and a crowned stork emblem, a possible heraldic symbol. Traditionally used for serving bonbons, sugar, or small confections, the pierced design allows excess sugar or crumbs to sift through, making it both functional and decorative.
This piece bears the Zaanlandsche Zilversmederij (ZZ) hallmark, confirming its authenticity and Dutch origin.
