About the Artist:
Vicki Conley's passion for art began in childhood, exploring various mediums such as papier-mâché, macramé, pastels, painting, and stitchery. While she initially intended to pursue art education, a remarkable science teacher in ninth grade led her toward a different path. She spent eleven years in the field of science, earning a Master of Science degree in Physiology and working in medical research. However, after starting a family, she rediscovered her love for art through pottery. What began as a hobby soon became a full-time business, leading her to establish Pinon Pottery in 1982. In 2000, she expanded her venture by opening her studio and gallery, Pinon Pottery, in Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico.
After four decades as a studio potter, Vicki has retired from pottery production but continues to own and operate her gallery. Over the past 20 years, she has also cultivated a passion for fiber arts, including quilting and surface pattern design.
