Vintage Western Leather Canteen by Clyde C. Edwards – Outlaw Trail Ride, Wyoming
Vintage Western Leather Canteen by Clyde C. Edwards – Outlaw Trail Ride, Wyoming
This handcrafted full-grain leather canteen is a creation of the late Clyde C. Edwards (1928–2018), a renowned saddle maker from Orem, Utah. Edwards was celebrated for his meticulous craftsmanship, producing custom leather goods for various Western events, including benefit trail rides like Caballos Del Sol in 2010.
The canteen commemorates the historic Outlaw Trail Ride in Wyoming, an annual seven-day, 110-mile adventure tracing the paths once traveled by infamous outlaws such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. This event offers riders a unique opportunity to experience Wyoming's diverse backcountry, from sagebrush-covered hills to rugged canyons.
Featuring intricate embossed tooling, sinew stitching, and a brass concho centerpiece with a horse motif, the canteen reflects the rugged spirit of the American West. The front side bears the inscription "Outlaw Trail Ride – Wyoming," while the reverse side honors the legendary outlaws with "Butch, Sundance, and The Wild Bunch." The interior houses a practical plastic lining, ensuring functionality without compromising its vintage aesthetic.
