19th Century Victorian Drop-Lid Secretary Desk
This Victorian drop-lid secretary desk, dating to the late 19th century, is a fine example of historical craftsmanship and functional design. Built from solid wood with veneer accents, it features a drop-front writing surface that opens to reveal 14 interior compartments, ideal for organizing letters and documents.
The lower section includes three drawers with Knapp joints—a distinctive type of joinery popular from 1871 to 1900, known for its durability and smooth aesthetic. An 18" x 13.5" storage cabinet provides additional space. The desk separates into three pieces for easier transport and has casters, though they are later additions and not original.
