Hopi-Tewa Pottery Bowl by Adelle L. Nampeyo – Sikyatki Revival Design
This finely crafted Hopi-Tewa pottery bowl is the work of Adelle L. Nampeyo (b. 1959), a celebrated artist and direct descendant of the renowned Nampeyo of Hano. Known for her dedication to the Sikyatki Revival tradition, Adelle continues her family's legacy of preserving and advancing ancient Hopi pottery techniques.
The piece is beautifully hand-coiled from natural clay and features a warm, polished surface adorned with intricate, hand-painted geometric and abstract designs in black and deep red. The motifs include classic Hopi symbols such as bird wings, feathers, and star-like patterns, framed around a square-rimmed opening. These elements reflect profound cultural significance, symbolizing nature, spirituality, and harmony within the Hopi worldview.
The base is signed "Adelle L. Nampeyo".
