Vintage Evette Schaeffer Tenor Saxophone by Buffet Paris – w/ Selmer & Northway Mouthpieces
This vintage Evette Schaeffer tenor saxophone, crafted by Buffet Paris, France, is a rare find for collectors and musicians alike. Marked with serial number 22786, this instrument is likely from the early 1920s to 1930s, making it a piece of French musical history. The bell features intricate hand-etched engravings, adding to its aesthetic appeal.
The saxophone is accompanied by a Henri Selmer Paris "C" mouthpiece, known for its precision and tonal quality, as well as an additional Ernie Northway custom mouthpiece, highly regarded among jazz musicians. This set also includes a mouthpiece cover, cork grease, (2) new 2 ½ tenor saxophone Sib/Bb reeds, a shoulder strap, and (6) La Voz reed guards.
It comes in its original Buffet Paris hard case, maker-marked with a plaque label, featuring a velvet interior lining (noting age-related wear). While the case offers historical value, it exhibits wear, including missing exterior leather lining and inoperable locks.
This instrument is playable and has been tested, though servicing and cleaning are recommended to ensure optimal performance. It remains a fantastic addition to any saxophonist’s collection.
