Reproduction Retablo on Steel Panel in Hand-Carved Pine Wood Frame
This is a reproduction of a traditional Mexican retablo ex-voto, printed on a steel panel and framed in a beautifully hand-carved solid pine wood frame. The artwork depicts a wedding procession in front of a church, with an inscription expressing gratitude to San Antonio for a long-awaited marriage proposal after 12 years of courtship. The text reads:
"Dolores Mejía da a San Antonio, _______ porque su novio Romualdo Muñoz por fin le propuso matrimonio después de 12 años de noviazgo y se casaron en la ______ de Santa Rosa."
The frame features intricate floral and leaf carvings, complementing the folk-art aesthetic of the piece. The steel panel has aged patina, with visible rust, particularly in the inscription area.
Condition:
- Good vintage condition with signs of age and use.
- Rust visible on the lower section of the panel.
- Small chip on the lower panel.
Dimensions:
- Overall size: 9.5" x 11.3" x 0.65"
- Visible artwork area: 5.5" x 4"
