Description

MTU Wind-Up Santa Tricycle Toy with Dog, Bell & Balloon — Made in Korea

Get ready to smile—this delightful MTU® wind-up Santa Tricycle, made in Korea circa 1960s–1970s, captures the playful charm of postwar tin toys at their best. Santa rides a bright, lithographed trike with his trusty dog bounding alongside, a pink balloon and “Merry Christmas” flag fluttering overhead. When wound, the bell spins merrily and the dog trots in rhythm, bringing nostalgic holiday cheer to life.

Produced during the golden age of Korean tin toys, MTU pieces bridged Japanese postwar design flair with the emerging Korean toy industry’s creativity. Their colorful lithography—like the leaping rabbits on this example’s fender—was instantly recognizable and beloved by children (and collectors) worldwide. Today, these toys have become charming reminders of a time when imagination was powered by a simple key and spring.

Condition:
Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear and finish loss from play. Tested and functional—the toy winds up, moves, and the bell spins as intended. Some surface scuffs and mild paint wear consistent with age, but colors remain bright and eye-catching.

Dimensions:
5 x 3 x 4 inches (Height x Width x Depth)
