About the Artist:
Janet R. Thompson is a celebrated artist known for her vibrant pastel works that reflect her deep connection to the western landscape. With over fifty-five years of experience, she has mastered the art of using soft pigment sticks to create colorful, expressive pieces that capture the beauty of her mountain community in Creede, Colorado. Janet's journey began at sixteen, when she first discovered pastels, and she later studied portraiture with Daniel Green at the Art Students League in New York. Her work has been featured in prestigious galleries, and she is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, as well as a member of several other prominent art societies.

Based in Creede, Janet’s artwork remains deeply inspired by the natural beauty of her surroundings. She shares her passion and expertise through popular pastel painting workshops, where students enjoy learning amidst the scenic views of Colorado’s San Juan Mountains. Janet’s work has gained recognition for its vibrant colors and powerful emotional expression, and her limited edition prints are highly sought after by collectors. Through her art, Janet communicates a powerful story, using the simple act of mark-making to transmit feelings of beauty and connection that resonate with viewers long after they have left her gallery.
