Description

1889-CC Morgan Silver Dollar

This 1889-CC Morgan Silver Dollar, struck at the historic Carson City Mint, is widely regarded as one of the rarest and most desirable coins in the entire Morgan Dollar series. With a low mintage of only 350,000, this coin has gained iconic status among collectors, representing a true gem of numismatic history.

On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, adorned with a headband inscribed "LIBERTY." Surrounding her are 13 stars, representing the original colonies, along with the date "1889." The reverse features a majestic bald eagle holding arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing strength and peace. Below the eagle's tail feathers is the coveted "CC" mintmark, indicating its production at the Carson City Mint.

Condition:

This example is in Very Fine (VF) condition, showcasing moderate wear on Lady Liberty's hair and the eagle's feathers. While some high-point details have softened due to circulation, the fields retain excellent clarity, and the "CC" mintmark remains distinct. Subtle patina adds to its authenticity and appeal.

Rarity and Provenance:

As the rarest Carson City Morgan Dollar, the 1889-CC commands significant premiums across all grades. Its limited production and the Carson City Mint's storied history contribute to its desirability. Few examples in collectible grades survive, increasing its scarcity on the market.

Special Notes:

This coin presents a fantastic opportunity for collectors to acquire a cornerstone piece for their collection. Given its rarity and historical significance, the 1889-CC Morgan Dollar remains a timeless investment.
