About the Artist:
Jaroslav Svoboda (b. 1946)

Jaroslav Svoboda is a renowned Czech glass artist, celebrated for his innovative techniques in hand-blown glass sculpture. Born in 1946 in the Czech Republic, Svoboda trained in traditional glassmaking at the prestigious Glass School in Železný Brod and later at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague. He became a leading figure in the Czech glass art movement, known for his creative approach to glass as a medium for artistic expression.

Throughout his career, Svoboda has been recognized for blending fine art with functional design, creating both abstract and figurative pieces. His work often draws inspiration from natural forms, as seen in his sculptures of trees, animals, and other organic shapes, while also reflecting modernist influences. Svoboda's mastery of color and form, coupled with his technical expertise in glassblowing, has earned him international acclaim.

In 1990, Svoboda established his own glass studio in Škrdlovice, where he continues to create limited-edition and custom pieces that are highly sought after by collectors and art institutions worldwide. His works have been exhibited in galleries and museums across Europe, the United States, and beyond.

Svoboda’s sculptures, such as his iconic glass trees, are known for their vibrant colors, intricate details, and the fluidity of his designs, which elevate the medium of glass into the realm of fine art.
