Taiyo Rusher Porsche Carrera #46 – 1970s Japan Tin Bump’n Go with Box, Tested
Start your engines! This vintage Taiyo “Rusher Porsche Carrera” battery-operated tin toy captures the spirit of 1970s racing glory. Dressed in the iconic Martini Racing Team livery, with vivid red and blue stripes wrapping its silver body, this Porsche #46 is pure retro motorsport magic. Made in Japan by Taiyo, one of the premier tin toy makers of the postwar golden age, it features automatic action with Non-Fall, Bump’n Go, and a blinking rear light—a full spectacle of mechanical motion and flashing fun.
Produced under Item No. 7406 and marked with the official JTA “ST” Safety Toy emblem (introduced in 1971), this piece dates squarely to the early–mid 1970s. Powered by two D-cell batteries, it springs to life with characteristic Japanese precision. Chrome wheels, driver detailing, and crisp sponsor logos (Shell, Dunlop, Bosch) complete the authentic racing presentation.
Condition:
In like new condition overall, showing only light signs of use. Tested and working. Battery compartment is clean and corrosion-free. Lithographed body retains vibrant colors and shine. Box displays minor shelf wear and light creasing typical of careful storage. A remarkably well-preserved and functional example.

Overall: 3.2" H x 4" W x 10" L
Weight: 11.8 oz
Collector’s Insight:
Taiyo, founded in Tokyo in 1956, was a leader in the transition from tinplate to plastic and remote-controlled toys. Their “Rusher” Porsche series represents the brand at its creative peak—melding clever engineering (the “Non-Fall Mystery” mechanism) with sleek automotive design.
