Antique Cast Iron Red Pickup Truck, c.1930s Hubley Attribute
A nostalgic treasure from America’s golden age of toy making — this cast iron red pickup truck, stamped “3555”, hails from the 1930s, one of the premier U.S. toy manufacturers of the era. Crafted in solid cast iron, it captures the rugged charm of early automobiles, complete with a squared cab, ribbed side panels, and vented hood detail. Its original deep red paint and white composition tires, now beautifully aged with crackled patina, evoke nearly a century of history in miniature.
Toys like this weren’t just playthings — they were small works of art, cast in foundries alongside real industrial parts. Each was hand-finished and painted to withstand hard play on wooden floors and sidewalks.
Condition:
Fair overall, showing signs of use and age-appropriate wear. One wheel is absent, and the remaining wheels and hubcaps are heavily worn with surface cracking. Half of the front bumper is chipped, and the original paint shows oxidation and scattered losses. Despite its age, the truck remains structurally sound with strong visual appeal and a wonderfully authentic patina.
