Kilgore T100-2 Cast Iron “Take-Apart” Roadster – Early 1930s Stutz-Style Classic
Step back into the early days of American motoring with this impressive Kilgore T100-2 cast-iron roadster, complete with T100-160D body and T-W-99 wheels. Produced in the early 1930s by the Kilgore Manufacturing Company of Westerville, Ohio, this hefty 10-inch toy embodies the golden era of cast-iron craftsmanship. Designed as part of Kilgore’s ingenious “take-apart” series, each section could be disassembled and reassembled — a forward-thinking nod to mechanical learning and hands-on play long before LEGO existed.
Finished in classic black with green side panels, the model channels the spirit of a 1930s Stutz or Pontiac roadster, complete with nickel-plated bumpers, headlights, and a tilting windshield. It’s a design that bridges toy engineering and automotive history — rugged, elegant, and meant to last.
Condition:
Fair condition overall. Displays signs of genuine age and play: moderate surface wear, oxidation, and scattered paint loss consistent with use. Prior repair to the windshield frame noted. Wheels remain intact and rotate freely. Retains authentic vintage character without modern restoration.
Dimensions:
3.5" H x 4.05" W x 10.35" L
Weight: 43.15 oz
Collector’s Note:
Kilgore’s “take-apart” roadsters were among the company’s most ambitious designs, built not only for play but to teach mechanical assembly — a rarity in toys of the Depression era. The T100 series remains highly collectible for its distinctive stamped chassis, impressive scale, and enduring heft.
