Arcade Cast Iron 8" Buick Sedan Body — Freeport, ILL Marked, c.1926–30
Step back into the roaring 1920s with this authentic Arcade Manufacturing Co. cast iron Buick-style sedan body, proudly stamped “Freeport, ILL” on the underside. Produced between 1926 and 1930, this 8-inch model captures the bold lines and stately charm of the era’s classic touring sedans.
The design mirrors the late-1920s Buick and Chevrolet sedans—vehicles that defined modern motoring with their squared rooflines, full fenders, and upright stance. Arcade’s sculpted detailing captured these lines perfectly, down to the hood ridges and window framing. Each toy required multiple molds and a hand-finished assembly, making them costly even in their own day and treasured by children who rarely received more than one.
Condition:
Fair overall with age-consistent surface wear, oxidation, and paint losses. Wheels, axles, and baseplate are absent, though the cast body remains solid and structurally intact. Displays beautifully as found, with honest patina befitting its near-century of history.
Dimensions:
Overall: 3" H × 7.75" W × 3.25" D
Weight: 44.75 oz
Collector’s Note:
Arcade Manufacturing of Freeport, Illinois, was celebrated as the “world’s largest toy factory” in its day. Their early cast iron sedans—often inspired by Buick, Chevrolet, and Ford Model A designs—set the standard for realism and durability.
