Restored Arcade Cast-Iron Model A Coupe, 4.75", Freeport ILL, c.1928–32
A dapper little motorcar from America’s golden age of toys! This Arcade Manufacturing Co. cast iron coupe, stamped “Freeport, ILL, Arcade” beneath the chassis, hails from the late 1920s to early 1930s and beautifully captures the early automobile spirit. Finished in a handsome olive green repaint with bright nickel-plated spoked wheels, it’s a charming nod to the days when craftsmanship and imagination ruled the nursery floor.
Arcade’s cars were built tough — just like the real Fords and Chevrolets that inspired them — and this restored example still radiates that vintage sturdiness and nostalgic flair. The smooth enamel finish highlights the graceful curves and detailed fenders that made Arcade a standout in early American toy manufacturing. Whether displayed on a collector’s shelf or shared as a conversation piece, it evokes a simpler era when even a small cast iron car felt like pure magic.
Condition:
Good overall with an old repaint and scattered touch-ups. Some light edge wear and small chips to the finish. Wheels roll freely, and the piece remains structurally sound and well-presented. Please see photos for details.
