Castle Valley Railroad Company Corporate Seal Embosser, Early 1900s
This embosser was used by the Castle Valley Railroad Company, which was organized in 1901 to transport coal through Utah’s Salina Canyon. Despite ambitions to complete a critical rail line, the company faced natural disasters, including flooding in 1903 and 1906, that significantly hindered progress. The Castle Valley Railroad ultimately merged with the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad in 1908. This embosser, bearing a Feb 13, 1900 patent date, was used in legal and corporate documents during the company’s operations.
