This vintage Western Cartridge Co. No. 6 Blasting Caps Mining box is an excellent piece of industrial history from one of the leading explosives manufacturers of the 20th century. Manufactured by the Western Cartridge Company in East Alton, Illinois, this box originally held 100 blasting caps, used in mining and construction for controlled detonations. The box is now empty and inert, ideal for display and collection purposes.

Featuring a striking red and yellow lithographed design, the box includes bold safety warnings such as “Blasting Caps – Dangerous – Handle with Care.” It also provides additional instructions, reminding users not to transport or store the box with high explosives. The Western logo is prominently displayed, reinforcing the company’s importance in the explosives industry during this era.
