About the Artist:
John A. Bruce, born in 1931, has had a multifaceted career that includes roles as an artist, designer, and illustrator. He earned a psychology degree from California State College at Los Angeles and studied art at the Art Center School and Chouinard Art Institute. Bruce worked for North American Aviation and Aero Jet General, held Art Director positions at various companies, and maintained a successful freelance studio. His clients included R.C.A., Pacific Telephone, Packard Bell, Avery Label Co., and WED Enterprises (Disney). Bruce has exhibited widely since the 1960s, receiving awards such as the John R. Graybach Memorial Award and the Norris Foundation "Best of Show" award.

Creatively influenced by the 1950s Abstract Expressionism movement, Bruce's work reflects the era's emphasis on dramatic brushstrokes and exploration of organic nature and spirituality. This period, marked by prominent male artists like Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning, also recognized the significant contributions of female artists such as Lee Krasner and Joan Mitchell. Bruce's art, recognized by the Smithsonian Institute and various prestigious directories, continues to resonate with the principles of this influential artistic era.
