About the Artist:
Sasha Bassari, born in Gorkij, Russia, in 1963, is a distinguished artist whose work transcends traditional categories, blending elements of realism and surrealism into what can be described as "Gentle Surrealism." After graduating from the School of Art in his native city in 1982 and later from the renowned Art College named after sculptor V.I. Mukhina in St. Petersburg in 1991, Sasha became a member of the Union of Artists of Russia in 1992. His artistic style, akin to that of the celebrated Sergei Smirnov, is characterized by its serene, otherworldly quality, often depicting children, peaceful townscapes, angels, and fairies in soft, diffused colors. The figures in Sasha's paintings seem to float in an atmosphere of calm and gentle melancholy, embodying an ideal of unity that permeates the universe.

Sasha’s work invites viewers into an enchanted world where innocence and purity reign, offering a sense of peace and relaxation. His paintings are more than just visual art; they create an atmosphere that can transform a space, imbuing it with warmth and light. Sasha’s unique approach combines graceful brushstrokes with carefully chosen colors, creating compositions that are both delicate and bold. His work has garnered a devoted following, with pieces sold in both London and St. Petersburg. Fans of Sasha's art often describe a sense of connection with the hidden, gentle creatures that populate his mystical world, creatures that may reveal themselves only to those who embrace the magic and wonder of his creations.
