1816 Coronet Head Large Cent
This is an 1816 Coronet Head Large Cent, also known as a Matron Head Cent. The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed with "LIBERTY," though much of the detail has worn away over time. The date "1816" is visible at the bottom of the obverse side. The reverse displays the denomination "ONE CENT" encircled by a wreath, with the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" around the perimeter.
Condition:
This coin exhibits significant wear and patina consistent with its age, resulting in a lack of sharp detail, particularly on Lady Liberty's portrait and the wreath. The coin shows surface scratching and wear, but the main features are still discernible, making it a collectible piece for numismatists interested in early American coinage.
