Antique Cast Iron Woodpecker Wooden Match Holder
This charming 19th-century cast iron match holder features a woodpecker design with a beautifully aged patina. The woodpecker serves as both a decorative element and a functional tool for retrieving wooden matches stored in the trough in front of it. To use, simply push the woodpecker forward, and its beak will pierce a matchstick. When released, the woodpecker springs back to its original position, holding the matchstick on its beak, ready for removal. The match can then be struck on the strike plates located on either side of the trough or on the woodpecker's back.
