About the Artist:
A lifelong New Mexican, Mike Groves has called Las Cruces home since 1953. His photographic journey began in high school, captivated by the ethereal beauty of sunsets. Though self-taught, his innate eye for composition was undeniable. College years served as a crucible for experimentation, solidifying his passion for capturing the grandeur of the outdoors. While renowned for his landscapes, Mike’s versatility is showcased in his award-winning portraits and still lifes.
His heart, however, belongs to the dramatic landscapes of his native state. The Organ Mountains, in particular, have been a muse, their imposing presence inspiring his iconic triptychs and panoramic works. White Sands and the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge also feature prominently in his portfolio, each location rendered with a reverence that speaks to a deep-rooted connection. Mike's photography is an invitation to experience the raw beauty of his beloved New Mexico.
