Description

10 lb Polished Petrified Wood Specimen with Emerald Green and Blue Agate Inclusions

This extraordinary petrified wood specimen from Zimbabwe is a true collector's item, showcasing vibrant emerald green and blue fortification agate infusions. Weighing approximately 10 pounds, this piece features one side polished to a stunning finish, revealing intricate natural patterns and a rich palette of colors. The polished surface highlights deep browns, greens, and creamy whites, which blend seamlessly with the translucent agate veins penetrating the fossilized wood.

The unique combination of colors, including dark emerald to mint green shades, is set off by the massive infusions of blue fortification agate from what appears to have been a hollow center. This piece is framed by rich green agate, contrasting beautifully with the dark brown and black agatized wood of the central region.

Condition: Good, as shown. The polished surface is smooth and glossy, enhancing the natural beauty and intricate details of the fossilized wood. The back and sides retain their raw, unpolished texture, adding to the specimen's rustic charm. There are no significant chips or cracks, preserving its overall integrity.

Size:

  • Height: 6.75 inches
  • Width: 7.5 inches
  • Depth: 3.5 inches
  • Weight: 10 lbs 4 oz

Additional Information: This petrified wood specimen represents a significant and rare find, likely never to be seen again due to the unique circumstances of its discovery and the halted excavation at the site. The finely preserved wood structure, including the conifer-like honeycomb pattern and Woodworthia spike knots, is visible under magnification. This piece is highly silicified and took an absolutely gorgeous polish, bringing out both the color and the fossil structure in this amazing and uncommon specimen.

The included photo with a Campbell's Soup can provides a sense of scale, emphasizing the substantial size of this unique piece. Perfect for display in any collection or as a striking decorative item, this specimen is sure to captivate and intrigue.
