Arcade Cast Iron Gas Pump Trio – 1930s Early Service Station Toys
Evoking the spirit of America’s early motoring era, this charming trio of Arcade cast iron gas pump islands dates to the 1930s–40s. Cast in solid iron and finished in rich original red paint with silver detailing, each piece captures the authentic look of a bygone service station. Featuring oval-ended bases, clock-face pump fronts, and side hose mounts, these miniature stations embody the precision and craftsmanship that made Arcade Manufacturing Co. of Freeport, Illinois a leader in cast iron toys.
This group includes two triple-pump islands and one partial double-pump island, all bearing the “458” casting mark on the underside. The mark identifies a foundry cavity number—a common feature of genuine Arcade accessories, used internally rather than as a retail catalog code. Their distinctive styling and sturdy form correspond directly to known Arcade gas pump islands sold alongside the company’s toy garages and service stations.
Condition:
Good overall with original paint showing wear, oxidation, and minor losses consistent with age and play. One island is partial (two pumps intact), as shown.
