Arcade 1933 Greyhound Bus – “Century of Progress” Cast Iron Toy, GMC Chicago
Celebrate the golden age of American travel with this original Arcade Manufacturing Co. cast iron toy bus, created to commemorate Chicago’s legendary 1933 “A Century of Progress” World’s Fair. Painted in its iconic cream and blue scheme, the model proudly reads “A Century of Progress – Chicago 1933 – Greyhound Lines – GMC,” a nod to Greyhound’s sleek new streamline buses showcased at the fair.
This articulated two-piece design features a deep blue cab and cream coach with raised running Greyhound motifs along the sides—symbolizing speed, innovation, and the optimism of 1930s America. Mold marks include Arcade U.S.A., 322L/322R, and ©1933 A, confirming authentic period production. Cast iron construction and original rubber “balloon” wheels complete this striking miniature tribute to early American automotive design.
Condition
Good vintage condition with original paint showing age-consistent chips and light surface wear. Rubber wheels exhibit cracking typical of age, and minor oxidation is visible on metal components. Coupling remains intact and fully functional. Honest patina enhances its authentic early 1930s character.
