Kilgore Cast Iron Dump Truck – c.1930s, CT 742A Bed
A sturdy little survivor from the golden age of American cast-iron toys! This Kilgore Manufacturing Co. dump truck, produced in Westerville, Ohio around the 1930s, captures the muscular charm of early work vehicles in miniature form. Finished in its factory-applied olive-green cab and red tipping bed, the truck features crisp cast details, including radiator lines, door panels, and disc-style wheels.
Underneath, you’ll find authentic Kilgore markings with casting numbers CT 740A, 741A, and 742A, confirming its originality. The manual dump mechanism remains fully functional — lift the bed, release, and it still performs its tiny “workday” just as it did nearly a century ago. These Kilgore trucks were built to endure the play of generations, a testament to the company’s slogan, “Toys That Last.”
Condition
Good overall with age-appropriate wear from use and handling. Original paint remains visible with scattered losses and oxidation throughout. The dump mechanism is intact and operational; wheels turn freely. No visible cracks or structural repairs. Displays beautifully with a warm, untouched patina that tells its story honestly.
