Hubley Cast Iron Chevy Coupe 1498L w/ Driver – 1930s Restored 6½" Toy Car
Step back to the golden age of American toymaking with this Hubley cast iron Chevrolet coupe, model 1498L, produced in the late 1920s–early 1930s. This hefty 6½-inch toy captures the charm and craftsmanship of early automotive design — complete with a molded driver at the wheel, louvered hood, and arched fenders that echo the real Chevrolets of the era.
Cast in solid iron and finished in brilliant blue with bold red disc wheels, this piece displays Hubley’s signature blend of realism and play value. Many collectors mistake this model for an Arcade car; however, its integral driver figure, painted wheels, and 1498L casting mark firmly identify it as a Hubley original. Even the “1439” tire code traces back to Hubley’s period mold numbers — small details that make a big difference to serious collectors.
Condition:
