Description

A.C. Williams Cast Iron Pierce-Arrow Coupe – 1930s 5" Toy Car

A charming survivor from the golden age of American toy making, this A.C. Williams cast iron Pierce-Arrow coupe dates to the early 1930s—when toy foundries competed to capture the spirit of the open road in miniature. Finished in its original apple-green paint with a dark roof, this 5-inch coupe echoes the elegant design language of the real Pierce-Arrows admired on streets of the Jazz Age.

Distinctive fender-mounted headlights, louvered hood panels, and round door medallions are all hallmarks of Williams’ early automotive castings. The underside bears mold marks “4R” and “7,” typical of this maker’s foundry numbering system. Fitted with solid brass disc wheels and remnants of the original rubber tires, the toy has a satisfying heft at just over ten ounces—a tangible reminder of prewar American durability.

Dimensions:
2 x 2 x 5 in.
Weight: 10.2 oz.

Condition:
Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear throughout. Paint loss and light oxidation consistent with decades of handling. One small broken section beneath the door on one side (see photos). Wheels turn freely, and the casting remains solid with no major cracks or repairs.

Collector’s Note:
Founded in the late 1800s in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, A.C. Williams was among the pioneers of American cast-iron toy production. By the 1920s–30s, their miniature automobiles mirrored the design cues of luxury cars like Packards and Pierce-Arrows, inspiring generations of toy makers that followed.
